"You're just a hophead with a big ol' bike."

While the cat's away, the mice will play (old VHSs).

I can't remember when I first saw this. Well, the only time I saw it. But I would've been a provincial kid with ideas above his station (no change there), reading a lot of magazines and hanging on every word The Face pumped out. Alex Cox might have introduced it on Moviedrome, but I wouldn't put the house on it. Anyway, part of the way through something clicked and a lightbulb lit. 'Oh, so that's what homoerotic means.'
Anyway, hope you liked it. Carry on! G

I saw it close to its release date either at the Phoenix East Finchley or that cinema up west that used to show the arthouse stuff. Loved it then, and love it now... for what it is.

Nothing wrong with a bit of homo-eroticism. And nothing wrong with the John Lurie/Robert Gordon soundtrack either.

There's a good post on Jeff Decker's blog at the moment about Anger's 'Scorpio Rising', another film that made it onto VHS at about the same time.
