My mate Rene in Australia sent me a link to a series running on TV over there at the moment based on the war between the Comancheros and Bandidos motorcycle clubs in the 1980s, culminating in the infamous Milperra Massacre in 1984: the biggest event in Aussie 'bikie' history.
It's based on a good book called Brothers in Arms, and you can check out some photos from the show here. Looks like they got the period feel down pretty well.
Unfortunately I can't get the first episode to play... looks like it's restricted outside Oz. Anyone know how to get round it?

The first episode wasn't too bad, like you mate, I can remember the day with the news coverage so clearly, the book is a great read. Hope you get the vision thing up and running.
It's not all that crash-hot, so I don't think you're missing much Guy. Pretty poorly fleshed out with not a lot of back story behind the main players even.
Although, apparently if you do like it, you'll love Glee!
You should be able to get around it by using Tor. Google that up. The show was alright, not totally correct but they tried...

Downloading right now, I can't tell about quality.
"Tunnelbear" is the app I use to watch stuff on the BBC IPlayer here in the states - it's a free download...
