If you follow my brother Adam's blog or read his excellent
magazine, you may know that in a past life he was guitarist in a band (mid-to-late eighties) with Stan Stammers, legendary bassist ex-Theatre of Hate, Spear of Destiny and The Pack. That's Adam on the right of the sleeve in the video.
I saw Crazy Pink Revolvers loads of times... designed their first album sleeve and even roadied for them. They were a tight little band with a big sound... two basses, no less. Good times, when vintage semi-acoustics, big E levis and rocker chic were king!
It's his birthday today, so here's a blast from the glory days. Many happy returns bro.
Yeah, good band.
ReplyDeleteActually Stan was not the bassist for The Pack, he played bass for The Straps and left to join Theatre of Hate with Kirk. I played drums for the Straps with the other members of The Pack, which will always be the best band I have ever seen.
Ah....much appreciated, though best track on that EP is The Driver. Did you notice I'm wearing my Harley T-shirt in that photo?
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil... those were good days.
ReplyDeleteHello Great magazine
ReplyDeleteThe Straps were also great. Brixton is up there with my favourite punk 7 singles. Never saw The Pack live (just too yooung) but have the records and love that clip on YouTube.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I loved The Straps and then got to drum for them when Jim Walker (out of PIL) left. Jim was the drummer for The Pack and I saw them a few times at Brixton Town Hall and their last gig at 101 club in Battersea. Long time ago. Happy Birthday.
