They always seemed to have that rivet-counting-old-man-in-a-flat-cap vibe, and that gappy engine with the sloping cylinder always looked to me like the second one had fallen off...
It's a quintessentially 'British' bike, and as my influences have always been American, I never paid Panthers much attention... although I'm aware they have a fanatical following. Then I saw Shaun's bike recently, and it's changed my opinion.
I think his mock-up looks great, and I hope he manages to maintain the bike's squat lines, stance and crusty charm right to the end of the build. That sidestand might need rethinking though...
great looking little bike isnt it - as for panther owners...
ReplyDeleteold men: absolutely
flat cap: quite possibly
rivet counting: no way - they are the most bodging bunch i have ever met.
its all about keeping them on the road by any means. for example, in a book provided by the owners club, theres a section on converting your mag to electronic ignition - using fridge magnets!?
i love my panthers
